See the everyday effects of your team’s efforts
The Small Wins Dashboard is the goal-tracking and culture-building tool designed by educators, for educators.
As schools face the most challenging conditions of our time—collective progress feels harder than ever. Having worked over 20 years in education, Founder Kippy Smith is deeply aware of these challenges—and passionate about creating solutions.
"The Small Wins Dashboard is a way of being able to tell stories in real-time.”
This not only accelerates change by sharing stories across networks but also directly addresses the challenge of siloed learning. The Small Wins Dashboard is a real way of accelerating change by sharing storytelling across networks and across people."
Darry Strickland, Co-Founder, Design for Emergence
The Small Wins Dashboard (SWD) started as a simple but powerful idea:
Learning is progress.
Founded by Kippy Smith, SWD helps educators, schools, and organizations visualize and celebrate the incremental progress that leads to big, irreversible growth.
SWD was based on the significant role seeing and feeling progress can make on individuals and an entire team, developing ways to share success and lessons learned along the way, with visually compelling data displays in tandem with stories from co-workers in their own words.
We did our research. The data shows that hope is worth building.
Tracking everyday progress—both individually and as a team—improves energy and creativity, and ultimately leads to greater accomplishments. When educators believe in their collective ability to have a positive impact (Collective Teacher Efficacy, or CTE), their students are more likely to succeed.
Our Services
-
“The Small Wins Dashboard helps capture the kind of information that has often been difficult to capture, leading to a sense of collective optimism and efficacy, and providing evidence of the change process in real-time.”
“In addition to articulating small successes that feed hope, the Dashboard encourages articulation of what did not go as well as planned and what was learned, thus normalizing risk-taking and learning from what didn’t work.”
Mary Alice McClean, Superintendent, RSU 71
Meet Kippy Smith – Founder, Small Wins Dashboard
Over the last 20 years, Kippy has held roles on all sides of professional learning—from classroom teacher, to programs designer and facilitator, leadership coach, and organizational leader.
Kippy has spent her career at the intersection of school design, edtech innovation, and educator collaboration. Her work is grounded in the belief that transformational learning isn’t top-down — it’s co-created in schools, classrooms, and teams. As SVP of Learning at sideby, Kippy continues to lead SWD while influencing how we grow sideby’s learning network.
Small Wins Dashboard + sideby: Empowering Educators Together
In 2025, SWD found a new home as part of sideby labs, joining forces with an educator learning network equally committed to innovation in teaching and learning. This partnership wasn’t a “deal” — it was a reunion of shared beliefs.
Kippy first worked with Erica Crane, co-founder of sideby, back in 2012 through EL Education, where they designed schools and learning environments that honored the collective genius of educators. Over a decade later, Kippy’s vision for SWD aligned naturally with sideby’s mission: to accelerate educator-led innovation through powerful tools and peer learning networks.
At sideby, Erica Crane (CEO) and Mike Mendelson (CTO) co-founded a platform to connect forward-thinking educators through structured, meaningful peer learning. With experience launching schools, leading in edtech, and supporting real-world implementation, they’re building sideby to scale what works with trust, clarity, and aligned ecosystems.
